CANDEV RULES 😎

We’re CanDev, Canberra’s game development community! Even though Canberra is a small place, we’re a really close-knit community of game developers and always punching above our weight. We’re students, hobbyists and industry professionals - all sharing knowledge and helping each other to make games that we can get excited about!

CanDev is a diverse and inclusive community, and we want to ensure we keep our community spaces safe and welcoming. To help with this, we have a few simple rules for interacting within our community online and in person. Please follow them and help remind others to follow them, too. If you encounter any trouble, please reach out to us.

Be Kind & Courteous

We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required. Make everyone feel comfortable and safe. If someone expresses discomfort with what you’re doing, stop and move on.

KEEP IT CONSTRUCTIVE

Feedback is welcome, however please ensure it is delivered in a constructive and helpful manner. Inflammatory posts and conversations aren't allowed online or at our events.

KEEP IT PROFESSIONAL

Our community and events are for students, hobbyists and industry professionals. Younger folks interested in game development are welcome at most of our events, but anyone under 18 years old needs a responsible guardian to be in attendance with them for the entirety of the event. Regardless of age, everyone attending should act maturely and respectfully.

GIVE MORE THAN YOU TAKE

Give more to this group than you take. Self-promotion that's relevant to the group is okay in light doses, but spam and irrelevant links aren't allowed. Same goes for in-person; promoting too aggressively or hassling people for work won’t fly.

ONLY OFFER FAIR WORK

You're allowed to offer jobs and contract work in this group, as long as the project is relevant, clearly explained and the compensation is fair. Collaboration is one thing, but please don't ask for free labour. Please specify time commitments (e.g. deadlines, full-time, part-time, etc.). Online posts that don't meet these requirements may be deleted.

UPHOLD THESE RULES

Posts or comments in CanDev online communities that breach the rules may be deleted at the Admins' discretion. Posters who breach the rules will be issued a warning. Repeat offences (or a severe enough offence) may result in a suspension or ban from this group (and potentially from our events). Same goes for rules breaches at our events, if your actions aren’t okay there’ll be a warning and potentially more severe consequences, such as a ban from our events and online groups. If you notice something against the rules, please let us know.

You can always reach us via canberra.games/discord or via canberragamedevs@gmail.com (Discord’s probably faster).
