Amarantus Wins Australian Game Developer Award for Excellence In Narrative!

Amarantus wins the 2023 AGDA for Excellence in Narrative

The AGDAs are Australia’s annual awards to highlight and recognise exceptional Australian games, studios and individuals, while showcasing the breadth and depth of incredible talent, passion and creativity in the country’s game development industry.

In the 2023 AGDAs, the competition was very tough for Excellence In Narrative, with the Canberran community very proud to have the homegrown Amarantus nominated alongside such big hitters as Frog Detective 3 and Stray Gods (winner of the 2023 AGDA Game of the Year).

Amongst such tough competition, it is an honour just to be nominated, but Amarantus did more than that and our very own Ruqiyah of ub4q came home holding the AGDA for Excellence in Narrative. This is a massive success and goes to show the amazing talent we have here in the ACT.

Canberra is always punching above our weight, and last night’s win is a great achievement. Ruqiyah is also one of the volunteer organisers of CanDev, Canberra’s game development community. Fun fact: 100% of the CanDev organisers are now AGDA winners, showing nationally recognised best-in-country talent at the head of the local community. And we know, the rest of the community is incredibly talented, too.
